Vapir Rise 2.0 Review

When the VapirRise first hit the shelves we couldn’t help but find ourselves excited by the prospect of another desktop model to compete with Arizer’s Extreme Q, as it offered both whips as well as balloons. But after we had a chance to test it, we discovered some shortcomings. The idea was sound, but the overall performance wasn’t particularly stellar. Since then, Vapir has updated the Rise vaporizer and re-released it as the VapirRise 2.0 Ultimate, which sounds cool, but just how well does it work? Continue reading this review to find out.

With the VapirRise, one had the option of delivering vapor through either a whip, which is basically a tube or hose used to carry vapor from the oven to the user, or a balloon – somewhat like the Volcano. While we were fairly impressed with the whip delivery option, the implementation of the balloon delivery method just wasn’t up to our expectations. The valve used to release vapor from the balloon was a little annoying and not nearly as convenient as the Volcano’s mouthpiece-valve system which, in comparison, feels quite natural to use. As a result, we didn’t find ourselves taking advantage of the balloon delivery method nearly as much as the whip. But with the 2.0 Ultimate, the latest version of the Rise, Vapir has ditched the balloon adapter and opted to have the whip feed vapor into the balloon. While this isn’t all that big of a deal given the less than impressive balloon delivery system to begin with, the change comes as somewhat of an unwelcome surprise.

And that wasn’t the only change that caught us off guard as they also did away with the necessity of having the fan running while the vape’s in use. But unlike the departure from the balloon adapter, we actually appreciate this modification because having the fan running at all times is not only inefficient, it’s annoying. When the fan is constantly blowing, it’s pushing out vapor even when you’re not ready to inhale, which is a complete waste. As a result, we often resorted to removing the packed oven from the heating element in between inhales in order to conserve our blend. Fortunately, Vapir recognized this design flaw and resolved it by allowing you to turn the fan off while the vape is in use – a very welcome upgrade.

But changes aside, what really makes the VapirRise 2.0 a worthwhile desktop vape is the fact that it has an attachment which transforms it into a multi-user model capable of simultaneously supporting up to four people. So if you fancy a unique group vaping experience, shareable with your friends, the VapirRise is it. And if you have less than four in your party there are valves on each opening allowing them to be closed when not in use. In other words, you can use it with anywhere from one to four people without any trouble thanks to the multi-user adapter.

Now, when it comes to the multi-user option, it might sound like a gimmick but we can assure you that it not only works but works well. This is thanks in part to the impressive capacity of the oven, into which you can really pack a considerable amount of dried blend, and the internal fan which helps move the vapor down the whips to the various users. So, if you’re imagining a hookah vaporizer that allows you to sit back and relax while you and buddies chill, look no further, the VapirRise 2.0 Ultimate is the one.

While feature-packed, this digital vaporizer incorporates a feature that you’d be hard pressed to find elsewhere – an internal HEPA air filter. While it might not seem like much, it’s most certainly a smart move on the part of the manufacturer because at the end of the day, it’s all about vapor quality.

As far as the vapor goes, the Rise 2.0 doesn’t produce the best vapor we’ve ever come across, but it’s definitely up there with the top tier desktop vaporizers of the day. The density is great, but the flavor is just a tad bit lacking. In this regard, an all glass vapor pathway would have been a nice addition but, all the same, the vapor is still above average in terms of quality. The primary upside is that this vape is actually capable of producing the kind of massive vapor clouds that many users desire. So if you’re looking to blow fat clouds, look no further, the Rise has got you covered.

The heating time on the Rise is definitely impressive. It takes less than a minute to go from room temperature to vaping temperature so you can rest assured that you’re not going to be waiting around for an extended period of time while it heats up because it heats up fast.

While the original Vapir Rise only heated up to about 400 degrees Fahrenheit, the new version, the 2.0 Ultimate, has an extended range that allows it to vaporize at up to 420 degrees Fahrenheit. This definitely comes as a welcome improvement as it allows for the vapor density to be noticeably increased.

Adjusting the temperature of the unit is extremely straightforward and simple thanks to the digital temperature controls which are composed of two buttons, one to increase and one to decrease the temperature, and a bright LED screen. A similar set of buttons is used to adjust the fan speed.

When it comes right down to it, we absolutely adore the VapirRise vaporizer. It’s great for social settings when you want to share, it offers an array of features, has a balloon as well as whip delivery options to choose from, digital temperature control, an air filter, and it’s not nearly as expensive as you might assume.
