Pax 2 Review

The Pax 2 portable vaporizer comes as an improvement upon its predecessor, the original Pax vaporizer, as its lighter, more compact, longer lasting, and better working, but just how good is it? Continue reading this review to find out.

Our main complaint with the original Pax was that it was difficult to clean. This difficulty cleaning, or keeping up with its maintenance, translated into problems with the mouthpiece getting stuck and causing the vape to eventually stop working as the mouthpiece acted as a button that turned the device on. While this issue was resolved to a degree through a lubricant that Pax Labs put out, we were never particularly thrilled with the way things worked out. Fortunately, with the new version, the Pax 2, that issue has been completely resolved.

In order to resolve the issue with the mouthpiece getting stuck, Pax Labs ditched the clicking mechanism in the mouthpiece entirely and ensured that it was easy to clean. All it takes to clean is some cleaning pipes, which it comes with 20 of, some isopropyl alcohol, and q-tips. That’s it.

But Pax Labs wasn’t content with simply fixing a problem with the original when they released their second version of the Pax vaporizer. So they took it upon themselves to make some pretty dramatic improvements. The most important of which for us undoubtedly being the upgrade to the vapor. Pax 2 produces a quality of vapor that the original never could. It actually comes out as more of a full-bodied or thick cloud, whereas the original is a bit lighter, less dense. But that’s not the only improvement to the vapor. It actually tastes better as the vapor pathway has been cleaned up a bit in comparison to the original.

While the original only had three temperature settings to choose from, Pax 2 now offers four and the temperature spectrum itself spans 10 degrees higher and 10 degrees lower — from 360 degrees Fahrenheit to 420 degrees Fahrenheit.

Another huge improvement to the new version is its ability to sense your lips on the mouthpiece and automatically adjust the temperature based on how you use it. This new technology incorporated into the new Pax doesn’t just sound cool, it works great. It makes the entire device more efficient and effective by lending to an increase in battery life, its ease of use, and consistency in vaporization. So from the very first puff to the very last, it manages to maintain a consistency in vapor production that the original never could.

In total, a fully charged Pax 2 battery will last about 1.5 hours. Officially, the claim by Pax Labs is that it now lasts 30-percent longer than its predecessor. As if that wasn’t an improvement enough, it also charges a lot quicker than the old one. In a fashion reminiscent of a new Apple laptop, the USB charging cord that it comes with magnetically connects to it so there’s no need to fuss around with plugging it in when it’s time to recharge the battery. Notably, there are a couple of downsides with the design. For one, the lithium ion battery is not designed to be replaced. And tying right into that, the battery takes a while to charge – between two and three hours once depleted.

With the last version, the original, the heating chamber was a little small but big enough to get the job done. But now, with the new and improved version two, the heating chamber or bowl is not only bigger and wider, it’s actually designed so that more surface area is touching your blend. The result? More efficient vaporization. This may come as a surprise to find that the bowl is actually larger than the original’s due to the fact that the overall size of the unit is that much smaller, but it’s true – the bowl is indeed bigger.
